 - Hi Diane!
Finally back in the swing of things here and able to sit down to reflect on my time in KY.
Let's see...
I came to the workshop with really limited knowledge of the cob process and technique but a keen interest in the whole thing. I expected to meet interesting people and learn a lot.
I learned SO much and feel like a true cob convert now! The people were incredible. I cannot express how inspired I am by all the people I met at the workshop.  I left full of ideas and enthusiasm. Is it hyperbole to say I think my life has changed?
Having the kids around was also fantastic, what an wonderful group of kids. I hope you'll let them know when you see them how much I appreciated their maturity, work ethic, and friendly, thoughtful presence.
I was really impressed by your teaching--a perfect balance of compassion, patience and knowledge. You are a gifted teacher and I hope you will continue to share that gift.
Anyway, all in all it was a fantastic week and I haven't stopped smiling yet! I hope I'll get a chance to work with you again. Thank you for having me, for making such an affordable workshop and also for letting me bring Ollie. He has been trying to sleep outside since!
Happy spring,
Becca

HI Diane,

THANK YOU so very much for hosting your cob workshop.  Because of my job, I was looking for an opportunity to learn firsthand about using cob that could be done in one week. Yours was the first workshop I found which allowed me to get it done in a week. I had two main questions/fears about using cob: Could I make actually make cob as easily as they say? What was the composition of the soil in my backyard (Why couldn't I interpret the results of the test on my soil?) How do I make lime plaster.  Thank you for those answers. I was thrilled to actually learn that building with cob doesn't need to cost any money. This enables people with no money or a little money or bagfuls of cash to build in a way that satisfies their own personal ratio of time to $$$$$.                 The food was great. As someone who approaches cob building lightheartedly, just wanting to build a decorative fence wall & spend a week in a warmer place, I appreciate being around people who take things more seriously and are using cob and natural building as part of the answer to the question, How can one arrange one's lifestyle to coincide with one's views of nature, green living & personal faith?

Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to learn how to build with cob.

Diane,

I did not get the chance to tell you goodbye because Chris and I had to leave before sunrise Sunday morning. Just wanted to thank you again for the chance to come, do some cobbing and bake bread! I'm so looking forward to the chance to start building one day, but I suppose a little more patience is in order...

I look forward to seeing pictures as your home comes to completion!

peace to you,
shannon

Lots of fun while learning and working hard.  A lot more working on our own than I was expecting, making our won decisions on what needs to be done, and at the same time doing lots of teamwork.  A great group of people and a well-taught workshop!

Great workshop!  Covered all the essentials with plenty of hands-on practice.  I really like the way you're open to input on everything and always looking for ideas and consensus.  It pulls the group together and makes us think.  The only thing I'd like more of is time!  Make it a 6 or 7 day workshop!
